Woman wanted for kidnapping, other crimes nabbed in Puerto Princesa City

A woman wanted for alleged kidnapping, car theft, and child abuse has been arrested in Puerto Princesa City.

CITY OF CALAPAN — After more than three years in hiding, a woman wanted for alleged kidnapping, car theft, and child abuse was arrested in Puerto Princesa City, Palawan province on Tuesday, police said.

In a report, Brig. Gen. Sidney Sultan Hernia, regional chief of police, identified the fugitive as Jai Sunshine Chua, 37. She was captured in Puerto Princesa’s Barangay (village) Liwanag at 10:15 p.m. on December 6.

Chua, a resident of Barangay Bancao-bancao, also in Puerto Princesa, was arrested on the strength of warrants for three counts of kidnapping for ransom issued by the National Capital Judicial Region Branch 69 and 70 in Taguig City in 2019, with no bail recommended.

She has other pending warrants of arrest for car theft and child abuse.

Chua was placed in police custody and will be turned over to the issuing court as soon as possible.
