Pagasa: Rain in 5 areas in Visayas, Mindanao due to ITCZ
MANILA, Philippines — The intertropical convergence zone (ITCZ) is forecast to trigger rain in five areas in the country on Thursday, according the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa).
Due to the ITCZ, Eastern Visayas, Surigao del Norte, Surigao del Sur, Dinagat Islands, and Davao Oriental will have overcast skies with scattered rain and thunderstorms, Pagasa said in its latest weather bulletin.
“Patuloy na umiiral itong intertropical convergence zone, o ang pagsasalubong ng hangin mula sa northern at southern hemisphere sa malaking bahagi ng Mindanao. Ngayong umaga pa lamang, may nararanasan na tayong thunderstorm activity,” said Pagasa weather specialist Daniel James Villamil.
(The intertropical convergence zone, or the meeting of winds from the northern and southern hemispheres, is still affecting a large part of Mindanao. This morning, there are already thunderstorm activities).
