Soldier, 3 rebs killed in North Cotabato encounter

DAVAO CITY, Philippines—A soldier and three members  of the New People’s Army were killed in an encounter in Magpet, North Cotabato on the 43rd annivery of the NPA, an Eastern Mindanao Command (Eastmincom) field report said.

Colonel Leopoldo Galon, Eastmincom spokesperson, said soldiers ran into an undetermined number of NPA guerillas in the hinterlands of Magpet at 11:30 a.m. on Thursday, the anniversary of the founding of the NPA.

One soldier and three unidentified persons believed to be NPAs, whose friends or relatives have been coordinating with Magpet town officials, were killed in the encounter, he said.
