Low chances of tropical cyclones in PH until weekend – Pagasa

MANILA, Philippines — There are low chances of tropical cyclones in the country until the weekend, said the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) on Wednesday.

The state weather bureau said in their daily forecast that there are no low pressure areas being monitored.

Generally fair weather will prevail over most parts of the country, including Metro Manila, with chances of rain due to localized thunderstorms, said Pagasa.

“Wala pa rin tayong namo-monitor na low pressure area. Hanggang weekend, maliit pa rin yung tsansa na magkaroon tayo ng bagyo, at ito pong intertropical convergence zone ang nakakaapekto partikular na dito sa southern portion ng Mindanao,” said Pagasa weather specialist Obet Badrina.

(We are not monitoring any low pressure areas. Until the weekend, there are small chances that we will have a tropical cyclone, and only the intertropical convergence zone is affecting particularly the southern portion of Mindanao).

According to the agency’s weather forecast, the only major weather system that Pagasa is monitoring is the intertropical convergence zone affecting the southern portion of Mindanao, which will experience partly cloudy skies and isolated rain showers.

No gale warning has been raised by Pagasa but the agency warned areas affected by rain of possible flash floods or landslides.
