Man kills tutor, holds hostage his brother, cousin
MANILA, Philippines—A man was arrested in Cavite after gunning down his children’s 46-year-old private tutor and taking as hostage two of his relatives later that day, police said Friday.
For still unknown reason, the suspect, identified as Nasser Arobinto, allegedly shot tutor Delma Saldaña while the latter was sitting at the sala of suspect’s house in Barangay (village) Esmael in Dasmariñas, Cavite while she was waiting for the suspects’ children for a scheduled tutorial session around 5 p.m. Thursday, Senior Superintendent John Bulalacao, Cavite Police Provincial Office director said.
Bulalacao said Saldaña died after sustaining two gunshot wounds in her face.
Later that day at around 8:30 p.m., Arobinto then held hostage his brother and cousin who were shot in the right leg and stomach, respectively.
Bulalacao said a crisis committee was convened to negotiate for the release of the hostages that resulted in the arrest of Arobinto and recovery of a caliber .45 norinco with five rounds of live ammunition.
