MANILA, Philippines — Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) Secretary Erwin Tulfo’s “colorful love life” did not go unnoticed when he faced his confirmation hearing at the Commission on Appointments (CA) on Tuesday.

Looking at the nominee’s profile, Surigao del Norte 2nd District Rep. Johnny Pimentel could not help but noticed Tulfo’s declaration that he has 10 children from several women—four to be exact.

Pimentel admitted that he was “really amused” to see some of the facts about the Secretary, especially his personal life.

“And I’d like to read: Subject official declared that he has 10 children from several women,” the congressman said.

“I suppose you had a very colorful love life Secretary and there were four women or the mothers of your children. Are you still in good terms with the mothers?” he then asked.

Responding to this, Tulfo informed the body that they were separated but still “in good and in talking terms.”

Pimentel went on, raising the possibility that the Secretary could meet more women in his line of work.

“Hindi po ba magiging sagabal sa trabaho mo yun na marami kang makilalang babae?” the congressman further asked.

“It happened your honor when I was younger, when I was in the media and as you grow old you notice that you started to look differently in life, your perspective,” Tulfo said.

“When we’re young, we make mistakes, but I’m not ashamed to say I made mistakes and from that mistake, you have to make corrections and adjust and you have to bring it all the way until you grow old,” the Secretary said.

In the end, Pimentel gave his full support to the nominee, saying he would be an asset to the government considering his experience in public service.

“I give my 100 percent support to the Secretary, Mr. chair,” said Pimentel.
