MANILA, Philippines – Six people may have been involved in the robbery at Robinsons Galleria in Quezon City Thursday morning, not three as reported, Chief Superintendent Mario dela Vega said Friday.
After further investigation and interview with several witnesses, Dela Vega said three attacked the bank teller and his security escorts while three others waited outside the mall entrance.
He said they were able to interview a mall guard stationed at the mall’s upper level, saying that three men, on board a motorcycle, were seen waiting outside the entrance near to Ortigas service road.
He said one of the waiting suspects was the grenade thrower.
Two motorcycles were used as escape vehicles but police have yet to determine the amount of money taken from the roving teller, he said.
He also said Vincent Mangatura was the only bank teller from Security Bank who was scheduled to deliver an unidentified amount of cash to Sanrys Money Changer located at the ground floor of the mall, along with security escorts Rodrigo Reloso and Rodrigo Villa who was killed in the ensuing melee.
Leah del Mundo, another bank teller Dela Vega said, was also wounded, along with three others, from the grenade blast outside the mall. There were two grenades that were hurled by one of the suspects, but only one went off.
Dela Vega said they were reviewing a similar robbery incident that happened in October 2011 in Dasmarinas, Cavite where six suspects victimized a money changer in the province, killed three, and carted away millions in cash.
