LUCENA CITY – Three motorcycle-riding drug suspects were arrested and yielded shabu (crystal meth) after a brief chase with police manning a checkpoint early Tuesday, November 15, in Bacoor City in Cavite province.

The Region 4A police reported that cops conducting “Oplan Sita,” a routine anti-criminality inspection, flagged down motorcycle riders Abdul Jabbar Didagun, Jeric Sergio and Jerico dela Masa in Barangay (village) San Nicolas 3 at 2:30 a.m. for violation of overloading rules and not wearing crash helmets.

Wearing protective head gear for motorcyclist riders is mandated under Republic Act No. 10054, otherwise known the Motorcycle Helmet Act of 2009.

The riders disregarded the cops ordering them to stop and sped off, prompting the policemen to chase them until they were cornered.

During the routine frisking, the police found four sachets of shabu from the riders. The volume and street value of the confiscated illegal drugs were not specified in the report.

The suspects are under police custody and facing corresponding criminal charges including violation of the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
