High-ranking rebel, 2 others yield in Zambales

Three former communist rebels in this province surrendered to the authorities as the government troops intensified their whole-sector-approach against communist terrorists.

SAN ANTONIO, Zambales–Three former communist rebels in this province surrendered to the authorities as the government troops intensified their whole-sector approach against communist terrorists.

In a report, the Police Regional Office 3 (PRO3) on Monday (Nov. 14) identified one of the rebels as alias “Ka Ramon,” an intelligence officer of Militiang Bayan, which is operating in Zambales.

The other two rebels were identified as “Ka Danica” and “Ka Opie,” both of the same rebel group.

According to PRO3, the three voluntarily surrendered to the Provincial Mobile Force Company on Nov. 11.

The former rebels would receive cash and other benefits under the national government’s Enhanced Comprehensive Local Integration Program. INQ
