MANILA, Philippines — A magnitude 4.1 earthquake struck Calatagan, Batangas on Friday morning, the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) said.
The earthquake’s epicenter was traced 15 kilometers northwest of Calatagan.
The earthquake of tectonic origin was detected at 9:36 a.m. and had a depth of 82 kilometers.
It was felt at Intensity I in Quezon City.
Instrumental intensities were also reported in the following areas:
Instrumental Intensity III: Puerto Galera, Oriental Mindoro
InstrumentalIntensity II: Calatagan, Batangas; Magallanes, Cavite; Abra De Ilog, Occidental Mindoro;
InstrumentalIntensity I: Batangas City, Batangas; Tagaytay City, Cavite; Los Baños, Laguna; San Jose, Occidental Mindoro; Calapan City, Oriental Mindoro; Olongapo City, Zambales.
Phivolcs added that damage to infrastructure and aftershocks are not likely.
