MANILA, Philippines — Angkas, one of the accredited motorcycle taxi service companies in the Philippines, recently received an award for its campaign on improving the quality of the public’s access to work amid issues facing commuters in the country.
The Environmental, Social, and Governance Excellence (ESG) Awards showcase the best ESG performance in line with the United Nation’s 17 Sustainable Development Goals. Judges from ESG congratulated Angkas on this great business idea that’s impacting the lives of families and communities on a long-term and sustainable basis.
George Royeca, Angkas chief executive said: “Angkas improves the quality of work and access to work in many ways including providing its biker-partners the chance to earn viable income, three times that of the minimum wage.”
He added that biker-partner welfare and commuter safety and benefit are the cornerstones of the Angkas business. “The commitment of Angkas is focused on a win-win situation for all – happy and cared-for partners, and satisfied commuters.”
Receiving the award for Angkas was Cynthia Esquida, head of Human Resources, Administration, and Procurement.
An important part of ESG is communicating success to stakeholders. The awards are designed to create a competitive and transparent forum for companies to compare and celebrate their ESG improvement and performance against their peers.
