Acute gastroenteritis deaths in Bacolod City rise to 10 – city health exec

In Bacolod City, deaths caused by acute gastroenteritis have increased to 10.

BACOLOD CITY — Deaths caused by acute gastroenteritis (AGE) here have increased to 10, according to Dr. Ma. Carmela Gensoli, city health officer, on Sunday, November 6.

The AGE deaths were from Barangays Cabug and Tangub with two fatalities each, and Barangays 3, 40, Alijis, Bata, Estefania, and Mansilingan with one each.

The AGE cases in Bacolod City have reached 239.

The barangays with at least 10 AGE cases from September 1 to November 5 were Mansilingan, Singcang, Taculing, Tangub, Banago, Vista Alegre, Cabug, Estefania, Sum-ag, and Villamonte.

Gensoli stressed the need for everyone to practice personal hygiene.

The signs and symptoms of AGE are watery diarrhea, stomach cramps, nausea or vomiting, and sometimes fever.

The most common way to develop gastroenteritis is by consuming contaminated food or water.
