Despite the return of in-person classes, children aged 5 to 11 are not yet eligible to receive a booster shot of COVID-19 vaccine, according to the Department of Health (DOH).
“Until now, booster shots are still not recommended by the Philippine government to our children 5 to 11 years old,” Maria Rosario Vergeire, officer in charge of DOH, said at a press briefing recently.
She explained that government regulatory agencies have yet to give clearance for booster shots for the particular age group.

“Even our experts have yet to provide recommendations for that,” she added.
Currently, children aged 5 to 11 are only eligible for two primary series COVID-19 vaccines.
The DOH data showed that 5,231,460 children under that age group were already fully vaccinated against COVID-19.This is 48.02 percent of the 10,895,015 target population for 5 to 11 years old. INQ
