DOH notes COVID-19 case decline in Luzon, slow upward trend in Visayas, plateau in Mindanao

MANILA, Philippines — The Department of Health (DOH) on Friday said that COVID-19 cases in Luzon, including Metro Manila, Visayas, and Mindanao are decreasing, slowing, and plateauing, respectively.

DOH Undersecretary and officer-in-charge Maria Rosario Vergeire did not elaborate much but she gave assurance that healthcare facilities, especially in the Visayas, could manage.

“So unang-una (First off), we had been reporting naman na dito sa (about) NCR at sa (and the) rest of Luzon [that] nagda-downward (cases are on a downward) trend na ang mga kaso pero sa (already but in the) Visayas, meron tayong (we have a) slow upward trend and that includes… Western Visayas atsaka ‘yung iba pang (and other) areas in Visayas. Mindanao po nagpaplateau ang mga kaso (In Mindanao, cases are plateauing),” she said in a press briefing.

Earlier, Octa Research said most areas in the country, including Metro Manila, have been logging decreases in their COVID-19 positivity rate based on the latest DOH data it has analyzed.
