Alleged ‘fixer’ preying on stranded passengers nabbed in Sorsogon port

LEGAZPI CITY — A suspected “fixer” at the Matnog Port in Matnog town, Sorsogon was arrested in an entrapment operation on Thursday morning (November 3).

In a report on Friday, Lt. Col. Maria Luisa Calubaquib, spokesperson for the Bicol police, said the suspect identified as Enrique Montemayor, 48, was illegally transacting with stranded drivers and individuals bound for Visayas and Mindanao in Barangay Majumlad at around 11 a.m.

Initial investigation said Montemayor offered a speedy processing of documents to immediately board a sea vessel bound for Allen town, Samar province, in exchange for P6,500 as payment for vehicle and passenger fees.

He was facing charges of violation of Republic Act 9845, or the Anti Red Tape Act.
