MANILA, Philippines – Several roads around two universities in Manila will be closed to motorists on November 9, 13, 16, and 20 for the 2022 Bar examinations, the city’s public information office (PIO) announced Friday.
De La Salle University and San Beda University will host the exams. In preparation for this, the Manila PIO has announced plans to reroute traffic around the campuses.
The following roads that will be closed are as follows:
Near San Beda University
- Mendiola Street – closed from 2 a.m. to 8 a.m. and 4 p.m. to 7 p.m.
- Concepcion Aguila Street – one lane accessible only to authorized vehicles of residents within the area
- 1st, 2nd, 3rd, and 4th Street – closed from 2 a.m. to 7 p.m.
- The alternative route from the Ramon Magsaysay Boulevard will be to pass through Legarda Street
Near De La Salle University
- Taft Avenue Northbound – closed from 2 a.m. to 8 a.m. and 4 p.m. to 6 p.m.
- Taft Avenue Southbound – closed from 2 a.m. to 7 p.m.
If southbound, motorists are advised to turn right to Quirino Avenue, turn left to Adriatico Street, and then turn left to P. Ocampo Street toward their destination.
Meanwhile, those bound to the north should turn right to Ocampo Street, turn left to Arellano Street, turn left to Estrada Street, and turn right to Taft Avenue.
The Manila PIO then warned that “heavy traffic is expected during the stated dates.”
Despite widespread requests for a postponement following last weekend’s devastation caused by Severe Tropical Storm Paeng (international name: Nalgae), the November Bar Exams will proceed as planned. Over 3.96 million people, or 1.13 million families, were impacted by the storm.
