Active COVID-19 cases in Olongapo City down to 8

Five residents here died of COVID-19 in the past week as the city's tally of infections continued to climb, local data showed Thursday, Oct. 20.

OLONGAPO CITY – The number of active COVID-19 cases in this city has dropped to a single digit after seven infected patients recovered from the viral disease, local data showed on Thursday, Nov. 3.

According to the city’s COVID-19 task force, the number of active virus cases stood at eight as of Thursday. It dropped from 14 the previous day.

It was the lowest daily number of active infections in the city since it peaked at 65 on Oct. 12.

The downward trend of the virus spread in the city began on Oct. 21 after experiencing a surge in the early days of October. 

Since the pandemic struck in 2020, Olongapo has already registered 7,541 COVID-19 cases, 7,166 recoveries, and 367 deaths.
