Cebu police on alert

Security measures are already in place for the observance of the Holy Week.

Cebu police were already on heightened alert since yesterday. Close to 2,000 policemen will be deployed in different areas in Cebu.

“We will be deploying 1,936 uniformed personnel to 11 motorist assistance centers and 368 public assistance centers to be located in different converging areas,” said  Senior Supt. Orlando D. Ualat, chief of staff of the Police Regional Office in Central Visayas (PRO-7) in yesterday’s Talakayan sa Isyung Pulis (TSIP)  at the PRO-7 Headquarters.

Public assistance centers (PACs) will be put up in bus terminals, national highways, seaports and in airports.

The Cebu City Police Office (CCPO) will deploy at least 30 policemen in different churches such as in barangay Banawa for the reenactment of “Buhing Kalbaryo’ and “Sugat” on Easter Sunday in barangay Guadalupe.

Supt. James Goforth, chief of operations of the Mandaue City Police Office (MCPO), said the MCPO will work closely with the public in preventing crimes.

The MCPO has been posting tarpaulins, posters and stickers on public utility vehicles and in strategic areas that can easily be seen by the public.

The posters contain MCPO’s hotline numbers and tips on what to do when in need of police assistance.

The Lapu-Lapu City Police Office (LLCPO) will deploy more policemen in the city’s wharfs, churches, hotels and in tourist spots such as the Lapu-Lapu Shrine and in several swimming spots on Olango Island
