MANILA, Philippines — Ninety-four percent of public schools in Metro Manila started conducting full five-day face-to-face classes on Wednesday.
According to the Department of Education (DepEd), the National Capital Region (NCR) or Metro Manila has a total of 827 public schools.
“Sa ngayon po, maayos naman po ang resumption ng ating classes so far… Sa NCR po, 94% of our schools are implementing 5-day in person classes,” DepEd spokesperson Mike Poa told reporters in a message.
(Currently, the class resumption is good… In NCR, 94 percent of our schools are implementing five-day in-person classes.)
Poa stressed that the schools holding full in-person classes have 100-percent room capacity and are conducting classes five days a week.
The government earlier imposed that full five-day face-to-face classes must begin on November 2.
Blended or distance learning has been implemented since 2020 amid the COVID-19 pandemic.

Teachers earlier lamented that they are exerting additional effort to prepare for the full implementation of in-person classes, claiming that the government “left them in the air” to deal with the lack of resources in public schools.
