SAN ANTONIO, Zambales — Two men died Tuesday after they saved two drowning victims in Masinloc town in Zambales province, police said on Wednesday, Nov. 2.
Police reports said Lorenz Alvarez, 29, and Pablo Roque Jr., 46, went missing around 4 p.m. after rescuing a drowning 9-year-old boy and a 30-year-old man at a beach in Barangay Bani.
The boy and the man, who were not identified in the report, were seen playing along the shoreline when a big wave swept them away.
Alvarez immediately swam to save them and Roque helped other rescuers in pushing the boat that they will use for the rescue. But while in the water, both suffered muscle cramps and were also swept away by the strong current.
Other rescuers were able to save the victims but Alvarez and Roque were gone.
Their bodies were found Wednesday, Nov. 2, in separate areas.
Roque was found at 8 a.m. at the beach in Bani, while Alvarez was recovered at 9 a.m. in Barangay North Poblacion in Masinloc town.
