MANILA, Philippines – Vaccination booths were put up in three cemeteries in Quezon City for All Saints’ Day, its local government said Tuesday.
In a statement, the Quezon City government said it had set up a vaccination booth at the Holy Cross Memorial Park, Novaliches Public Cemetery, and the Himlayan Memorial Park.
It said that the city government and other concerned agencies would ensure that its residents’ commemoration of All Saints’ Day and All Souls’ Day, locally referred to as Undas, will be safe and peaceful despite the influx of visitors in the cemeteries and columbaria.
Based on reports from the city police and the Department of Public Order and Safety as of 1:00 p.m., more than 57,000 people have visited their departed loved ones on Tuesday.
About 400 personnel from the city’s Law and Order cluster were deployed to augment security forces for this year’s observance of Undas, the QC government added. –Alyssa Joy Quevedo, trainee
