MANILA, Philippines — The Philippine National Police (PNP) will still be on “full alert status” until November 4 to assist in the opening of full face-to-face classes.
The implementation of full in-person classes was set to start on Wednesday, November 2. The PNP said Metro Manila is the deployment focus for the full face-to-face classes.
“Definitely ‘yung ating concentration ngayon ng ating deployment, particularly ito ngang inaasahan nating simula ng face-to-face classes, ay dito sa Metro Manila. Kaya ‘yung ating full alert status ay mananatili hanggang November 4 in anticipation nga nitong simula nga ng face-to-face [classes],” PNP spokesperson Col. Jean Fajardo said in a Laging Handa public briefing Tuesday.
((The concentration of our deployment, particularly for the anticipated start of face-to-face classes, is in Metro Manila. That is why our full alert status will remain until November 4 in anticipation of the start of face-to-face classes.)
The PNP is currently on full alert for the national observance of All Saints’ Day and All Souls’ Day, locally termed as “Undas.”
Fajardo, however, said police field commanders have complete discretion in extending the heightened alert status.
Teachers were doubling their efforts to prepare for the full in-person classes, claiming the government had “left them in the air” to deal with the inadequacies in public school resources nationwide.
