MANILA, Philippines — More than a hundred Philippine Army soldiers from the 1st Brigade Combat Team are currently in OϢahu in Hawaii to take part for the first time in the three-week Joint Pacific Multinational Readiness Center, a US Army-led combined combat exercise designed “to prepare for whatever contingency” in the future.
Army chief Lt. Gen. Romeo Brawner Jr. said the objective of participating in multinational combined exercises is “for them to be able to operate with our counterparts so that we can assure interoperability.”
“Who knows, someday, we might need to operate with them,” Brawner said.
