MANILA, Philippines — Marikina City is implementing traffic rerouting schemes until November 1 to give way for Undas or the observance of All Saints’ Day and All Souls’ Day.
Starting Monday 6 a.m. to Tuesday, 12 a.m., the rerouting schemes will be in place to alleviate traffic and ensure safe visitation to cemeteries, especially at Loyola Memorial Park, which is the largest in Marikina.
According to the Marikina Public Information Office’s advisory, A. Bonifacio is open for one-way eastbound traffic from Barangka Flyover to the Shoe Avenue stoplight.
Vehicles bound for Loyola Memorial Park are advised to take Marcos Highway to Barangka Flyover or Barangka Underloop to pass through A. Bonifacio Avenue.
Loyola Memorial Park Gate 2 will serve as the entry point for vehicles. To go there, vehicles must take a left on Plaza de las Flores, a left on Paspasan Street, then a right on Don Gonzalo Puyat Street.
When exiting the cemetery, motorists are advised to exit through Gate 1, right on Paspasan Street, left on Chorillo Street, and left on A. Bonifacio Avenue.
Meanwhile, motorists can take the southbound lane of Riverbanks Avenue to Marcos Highway from A. Bonifacio Avenue.
Moreover, emergency medical teams, health stations, ambulances, police officers, and firefighters are all on standby near the cemeteries.
Closed-circuit television cameras are also positioned in these places to ensure public safety.
Command centers are also stationed in four other cemeteries in the city: Our Lady of the Abandoned Parish Cemetery, Holy Child Cemetery, Aglipay Cemetery, and Barangka Cemetery.
