86 Subic residents evacuated due to Paeng
SAN ANTONIO, Zambales – Twenty three families or 86 individuals were evacuated in Subic town in Zambales as Severe Tropical Storm Paeng (international name: Nalgae) whipped Northern Luzon over the weekend.
The Subic Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office said that preemptive evacuation was conducted in a flood-prone area in coastal Barangay (village) Wawandue when Paeng hit south Luzon on Saturday (Oct. 29).
The weather disturbance caused the level of water to rise in the area while the waves were high and strong, prompting the evacuation.
The evacuees are temporarily sheltered at the Kolehiyo ng Subic and the local government is providing them relief.
