The Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) has decided to waive the payment for franchise verification and to delay the filing fee for the new fare matrix of public utility vehicles (PUVs) until Sept. 30 next year.

Under Resolution No. 173 signed by the board on Thursday, PUV operators do not have to pay the P40 franchise verification fee and may get a copy of the new fare matrix without paying the P50 fee per PUV unit on the spot.

“In response to the clamor of the PUV operators who have been impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic, the board is considering ways to provide them financial relief amidst the continued rise of fuel prices and the effect of global inflation,” the resolution reads.

Earlier, the LTFRB warned PUV operators and drivers not to impose an additional fare on passengers without a fare matrix. —Mariejo S. Ramos
