Keep China out of WPS, Hontiveros tells Bongbong Marcos
President Marcos should make good on his promise not to cede any part of the country to foreigners after aerial images showed China’s unabated construction in the West Philippine Sea (WPS), Sen. Risa Hontiveros said on Friday.
“The President had committed not to give up even a square inch of Philippine territory so I expect that his administration takes definitive action on China’s arrogant contempt and disrespect for our sovereignty,” Hontiveros said, referring to Mr. Marcos’ speech during his first State of the Nation Address.
“Let’s act now before the greedy foreigners completely occupy our territory,” she said.
Aerial photos taken by Filipino photojournalist Ezra Acayan showed the various facilities built on China’s man-made island on Panganiban (Mischief) Reef, which is located well within the Philippines’ 370-kilometer exclusive economic zone. —Marlon Ramos
