MANILA, Philippines – The low pressure area east of Visayas has developed into a tropical depression, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) said Tuesday.
In its latest weather bulletin, Pagasa said that the weather disturbance named “Falcon” was sighted 670 kilometers east of Borongan, Eastern Samar. The tropical depression sustained maximum winds of 55 kilometers per hour (kph) near the center, and is expected to move west northwest at 19 kph.
Falcon came hours after another tropical depression, Egay, left the Philippines’ area of responsibility Monday.
No signal warnings have been raised so far, Pagasa said.
Falcon is expected to bring rains all over the country, but will become particularly widespread over the western section of Luzon, the state-run weather bureau said.
Falcon is expected to be 440 km east of Virac, Catanduanes by Wednesday morning. The tropical depression is forecast to be 420 km east northeast of Casiguran Aurora by Thursday morning. And it will be 350 km east of Basco, Batanes by Friday morning, Pagasa said.
