Aurora enforces ‘no sailing’ policy as Paeng threatens Central Luzon

MABALACAT CITY, Pampanga — The provincial government of Aurora has enforced a “no sailing” policy in all coastal towns of the province as Tropical Storm Paeng (international name Nalgae) continues to head towards Central Luzon.

In the memorandum signed by Aurora Gov. Christian Noveras on Friday, Oct. 28, the no-sailing policy for fisherfolk and other boat owners was “effective immediately.”

Noveras also declared a “red alert” status in the province.

He directed all municipal disaster risk reduction and management offices in the province to immediately prepare emergency preparedness and response protocols, including pre-disaster assessments at the municipal levels.

The governor also said preemptive evacuation based on mayors’ assessment and monitoring should be considered, “especially for those families living in identified landslide and flood-prone and other high-risk areas.” INQ
