AmCham backs new face mask policy
The American Chamber of Commerce of the Philippines (AmCham) said on Thursday that it is backing the Philippine government’s recent decision to finally ease face mask mandates, adding its support to a number of other business groups which cheered this latest, major policy shift.
John Forbes, the senior adviser of the foreign business chamber, told the Inquirer that they support individual choice when it comes to the wearing of face masks.
However, Forbes said that the government must continue to encourage vaccination and increase booster rates to bring the country closer to the end of the COVID-19 pandemic.
Earlier on Tuesday, the Philippine Chamber of Commerce and Industry and the Foreign Buyers Association of the Philippines also cheered the latest policy. —ALDEN M. MONZON
