MANILA, Philippines — The P3.9 billion 2023 budget of the Department of Human Settlements and Urban Development (DHSUD) and its attached agencies and corporations hurdled the Senate finance subcommittee on Friday.
Senator Risa Hontiveros, who presided over the hearing, said that the budget is deemed submitted for Senate plenary debates.
The following is the breakdown per housing agency:
- DHSUD – P1.043 billion
- Human Settlements Adjudication Commission – P409 million
- National Housing Authority – P2 billion
- Social Housing Finance Corporation – P500 million
- National Home Mortgage Finance Corporation – P0
The housing sector’s P3.9 billion budget is lower than their proposed P95.98-billion 2023 budget and their P7.61-billion current budget.
The DHSUD appealed for a budget reconsideration, including the P36 billion housing interest subsidy.
