162 residents preemptively evacuated, 11 areas flooded due to Tropical Depression Obet
MANILA, Philippines – At least 162 residents have been preemptively evacuated due to Tropical Depression Obet, reported the National Disaster Risk Reduction Management Council (NDRRMC) on Friday.
Meanwhile, 11 areas are also flooded, the NDRRMC added.
The preemptive evacuations and the flooded areas are all in Cagayan Valley and there are no reports yet of death or injuries, the NDRRMC said.
Tropical Depression Obet is forecast to pass over extreme northern Luzon on Friday, said the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa).
Signal no. 1 is raised in Batanes, Babuyan Islands, and the northeastern portion of Cagayan (Santa Ana and Gonzaga).
Article continues after this advertisementPagasa has also raised a gale warning over Batanes, Cagayan, Babuyan Islands, Ilocos Norte and Ilocos Sur. Fisherfolks are also advised not to go out into sea.
