DAVAO CITY, Philippines—The fall of a 69-kV electric post near the Redemptorist church here caused an hour-long brownout in the downtown area on Tuesday, but the Aboitiz-owned Davao Light and Power Company (DLPC) assured consumers this was not part of the rotational brownout caused by power shortage in Mindanao.
According to Ross Luga, head of the DLPC corporate affairs, the 69-kV electric post is a feeder substation servicing Ponciano and San Pedro streets, Victoria Plaza and even F. Torres Street., which explained the one- to four-hour brownouts, which started at around 5 p.m. Tuesday in affected areas.
In Lanao del Norte, residents experienced a four-hour power outage Tuesday after the hydropower plant Agus 4 experienced mechanical trouble, Pedro Ambos, National Power Corp. planning and operations chief, told the Philippine Daily Inquirer by phone.
Ambos did not give details of the Agus 4 problem.
The Lanao del Norte Electric Cooperative has an estimated 50,000 consumers.
