MANILA, Philippines — Quezon City will install more bike ramps on 40 footbridges to make the entire area more bike-friendly, the city government said in a statement on Tuesday.
So far, five crossings have newly-installed bike ramps – the Quezon Memorial Circle underpass. two footbridges on Commonwealth Avenue (Philcoa, UP Asian Institute of Tourism), Quezon Avenue (Ninoy Aquino Parks and Wildlife Center), and Katipunan Avenue (UP Town Center).
The city will also install more than 210 concrete plant box barriers “to make the bike lanes more attractive, safer, and to serve as an alternative and ‘green’ upgrade to plastic barriers used as bike lane physical separators.”
Quezon City Mayor Joy Belmonte also encouraged its residents to shift to cycling to promote an eco-friendly mode of transportation.
