MANILA, Philippines — A total of 15,314 infections of COVID-19 were registered from October 10 to 16, slightly higher than the number of infections recorded the previous week, said the Department of Health (DOH) on Monday.
In its latest weekly report, the DOH said this translated to a daily average of 2,188 — seven percent higher than the week before, October 3 to 9, at 2,048, where the DOH registered a total 14,333 infections.
Four, or 0.03 percent of the total cases, meanwhile, were tagged as severe or critical, bringing the active number of severe or critical cases to 690.
An additional 251 deaths were also added to the country’s COVID-19 death toll — 33 of which occurred from October 3 to October 16, while the rest were backlogs recorded as early as August 2020 until September 2022.
Despite the increase in cases, the non-ICU (intensive care unit) utilization rate slightly decreased from 27.2 to 26.8 percent. ICU-utilization rate, on the other hand, rose from 24.3 to 25.0 percent.
Meanwhile, regarding the progress in vaccination efforts, fully vaccinated individuals slightly increased to 73,397,437 (93.98 percent of the target population) after 85,021 additional individuals were vaccinated in the past week.
On the other hand, individuals with booster shots now total 20,318,781 after 184,863 additional individuals were inoculated in the same period.
