Bongbong Marcos assures EJ Obiena of gov’t full support

MANILA, Philippines — President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. on Friday reassured star pole vaulter EJ Obiena that the government would provide any assistance he might need in preparing for the Olympics.

Marcos made the remark when Obiena paid a courtesy call at the Malacañang Palace, adding that the pole vaulter has been a pride to the Filipino people.

“From your President and I think from the rest of the Philippines ay kami’y nagpapasalamat sa lahat ng iyong ginawa, sa dangal na idinala mo sa iyong bansa,” he said in his remarks during the courtesy call.

“We look forward to the Games in Paris. I hope you do well. If there is anything we can do to help you na maging mas maganda ang inyong resulta at mas maganda ang maging training, lahat ng ano, sabihin ninyo sa akin dahil napakahalaga ng iyong ginagawa,” he added.
