MANILA, Philippines – Private sector would no longer participate in a tripartite agreement with the government on the purchase of the new generation COVID-19 vaccines, Go Negosyo founder and Private Sector Advisory Council Lead For Jobs Joey Concepcion said on Friday.

According to Concepcion, he would not suggest anymore a tripartite deal on the procurement of vaccines, saying it would be better if the government would be the only supplier.

He, however said, the private sector is still willing to help by pre-registering their employees who are interested in receiving the new COVID-19 jabs.

“Yung government will be the sole importer of these vaccines and they will be the ones handling it in their respective storage and when they start to inoculate the people then our employees will be on that list,” Concepcion said in a public briefing.

Concepcion offered that the public sector can do the vaccinations in their respective barangays, local government, or in the offices and factories of the private sector.

“We will not do the tripartite anymore kasi (because) there is certain questions whether we will go under EUA (Emergency Use Authorization) and CPR (Certificate of Product and Registration),” Concepcion added.

Concepcion also suggested that if the private sector can manage to pre-register their employees who are willing to be vaccinated, the LGUs must also try to pre-register their citizens to see if people want the new generation vaccines.

“The government is best to manage the importation and warehousing, and distribution, we will commit the number of employees that will be vaccinated, so mas simple– if the private sector will do that maybe the LGUs can also do that, our mayors can pre-register all their citizens who are committed to take the vaccine, at least makita natin kung gaano karaming gustong kumuha ng mga bivalent vaccines at para hindi masayang (at least we can see how many Filipinos are willing to get these bivalent vaccines and it would not be wasted),” Concepcion pointed out. –Alyssa Joy Quevedo, INQUIRER.net trainee
