Nat’l Prosecution Service vows fairness in drug case of DOJ chief’s son

MANILA, Philippines – The National Prosecution Service (NPS) on Friday vowed fairness and independence in the case of Justice Secretary Jesus Crispin “Boying” Remulla’s son, who was arrested for alleged involvement in the importation of P1.3 million worth of kush.
“Clear ang directions ni [Secretary of Justice] dyan. He will not interfere. Rest assured that our prosecutors in Las Piñas will resolve the matter fairly and independently,” Prosecutor General Benedicto Malcontente told reporters.

The NPS is an attached agency of the Department of Justice (DOJ).

The DOJ chief has previously said that he will not interfere with the case of his son, Juanito Jose Remulla III.
“I am both a father and the secretary of Justice, roles that I take very seriously. We all know about unconditional love, but at 38 years old, he will have to face his predicament as a fully emancipated child,” said Remulla.
Despite Remulla’s assurance, some have called for his resignation, which president Ferdinand Marcos Jr. has described as having no basis.
