LIGAO CITY – Sixteen passengers of a motorized banca were rescued after it capsized in the waters off Rapu-Rapu Island in Albay Friday morning, authorities said.
The Rapu-Rapu police reported that the passengers were rescued by crewmembers of a vessel that was also passing by the area.
Capt. Philip Nathaniel San Buenaventura, officer in charge of Rapu-Papu police, said the boat had engine trouble and was battered by big waves.
The rescued passengers were brought to port in Barangay Bagaobawan, also in Rapu-Rapu, for medical assistance.
