Seven women saved from trafficking in Quezon City – police

MANILA, Philippines — Seven victims of alleged human trafficking were rescued in Quezon City early Thursday morning, police said.
In a statement, the Quezon City Police District (QCPD) said that its Women and Children Concern Section led the rescue of the women after an informant told them about a possible illegal activity in Barangay E. Rodriguez, Cubao, involving “young ladies for sexual services.”
Ariel Medidas, 42, and Aiza Alegre, 30, were arrested following an entrapment operation launched by the police at 2:15 a.m.
According to the QCPD, a police officer posed as a customer and was offered by the suspects “young ladies for sexual services in exchange for P500.”
The suspects are currently held at the Centralized Custodial Facility of the Directorate for Investigation and Detective Management in Camp Karingal, Quezon City, while formal complaints for violating the Anti-Trafficking in Persons Act of 2003 are being readied against them.
The rescued victims, meanwhile, were brought to the Social Services Development Department of the Quezon City government.
