MANILA, Philippines — Tropical Depression Maymay is expected to dissipate into a low-pressure area in the next 12 hours, the state meteorologist said on Wednesday.

“This tropical depression is forecast to deteriorate into a remnant low within the next 12 hours,” the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) said in its 5 pm weather forecast.

Maymay’s core is located 190 kilometers east of Casiguran, Aurora, packing maximum sustained winds of 45 kilometers per hour (kph) with gustiness up to 55 kph.

Pagasa hoisted Tropical Cyclone Wind Signal No. 1 over the eastern portion of Isabela, the eastern portion of Quirino, and the northern portion of Aurora.

Maymay is forecast to continue generally moving westward towards the eastern coast of Isabela or Aurora.
