LUCENA CITY — The male patient reported to have fallen on Tuesday, Oct. 11, from the third floor of a government hospital in this city, died on Wednesday dawn.
The police report said Exequiel Rioflorido of Sariaya town in Quezon province had been confined since Oct. 7 due to blood deficiency and was about to be released on Tuesday afternoon.
Witnesses saw Rioflorido fall from the third floor and hit the ground floor on the lobby around 3 p.m., the police report said.
Rioflorido suffered from a head injury and fell unconscious after the fall. He died later while receiving treatment.
Corporal Eduardo Nartea Jr., the case investigator, said Rioflorido’s family clarified that the incident was not a suicide.
“The family insisted that it was an accidental fall because there was no reason for the man to take his life. They claimed that he was eager to go home,” Nartea said in a phone interview Wednesday morning.
The wife of the victim was busy preparing for his discharge from the hospital when the incident happened, the report said.
The police report said the victim was allegedly “behaving in a disoriented manner” since being brought to the hospital.
The police are conducting further investigation.
