The official Facebook page of the NDRRMC as 5 a.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 12, 2022, that its last post was on Oct. 4.

MANILA, Philippines — The official Facebook page of the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) was hacked on Tuesday at around 3 p.m.

“Necessary arrangements are in place to retrieve our account and investigate the matter. We uphold data privacy and security, alongside the welfare of the members of the NDRRMC,”  the agency said on Tuesday.

It apologized to the public for the “inconvenience or confusion this incident might bring to the public and stakeholders.”

“Rest assured, measures are in place to prevent this incident from happening again. Thank you for your understanding,” it added.

As of 11 p.m., the NDRRMC had not provided updates regarding the issue, but a visit to its Facebook paged showed that the last post was made on Oct. 4.

The hacking happened just as a tropical depression, Maymay, was headed towards the Luzon and was expected to make landfall by Wednesday evening or Thursday morning.
