Miller leads Patriots to victory
NAKIEA MILLER pulled off his eighth double-double performance of the season as he towed the AirAsia Philippine Patriots to a resounding 82-70 thumping of the Singapore Slingers in the Asean Basketball League late Sunday night at the Singapore Indoor Stadium.
Miller had 22 points and 15 rebounds to help the Patriots solidify their hold of the lead in the standings with their 11th win in 13 games. It was also their fourth straight win, all of which have come away from home.
The Pats also extended their hold of the top spot over their fierce Filipino rival San Miguel to one-and-a-half games.
The Beermen are in second with a 10-4 (win-loss) record after a stunning 66-63 loss to the Saigon Heat on Saturday at the Ynares Sports Arena in Pasig City.
The team’s other import, Anthony Johnson, also had a stellar outing with 24 points, most of which came in the penultimate canto that kept the Slingers at bay. Singapore suffered its eighth loss in the last nine games for a 5-9 slate./Correspondent Jonas Panerio
