MANILA, Philippines — The Land Transportation Office (LTO) will investigate how even rundown vehicles manage to get registered, its chief, Teofilo Guadiz III, said in a statement issued on Monday.

The statement was apparently prompted by a video shared online showing a rundown truck with a renewed registration this year. The video also showed jeepneys that were illegally parked in makeshift terminals, emitting black smoke, and had insufficient lighting.

“We will not tolerate this kind of illegal activity and I assure the public that heads will roll. The LTO will get to the bottom of this, and we assure the public that those who will be found guilty will be prosecuted and removed from government service. They have no place in the LTO,” Guadiz said.
