TUGUEGARAO CITY — The government of the island town of Calayan in Cagayan province has suspended classes at all levels due to continuous heavy rains brought about by a low-pressure area on Monday.
In a text message, Calayan Mayor Joseph Llopis also suspended government work at the town hall, except for offices that respond to emergencies.
Llopis said the local disaster response teams were already on standby status.
Police and healthcare workers have also been monitoring the situation, he added. INQ
