MANILA, Philippines — The COVID-19 positivity rate in Metro Manila slightly dropped to 18.1 percent on Oct. 7 from the previous week’s 19.1 percent, said Octa Research fellow Guido David on Sunday.
Other provinces also saw their positivity rates decrease during the same period, with Batangas dropping from 13.9 percent to 10.9, Bulacan from 20.4 percent to 17.7, and Laguna from 19.7 percent to 16.9.
Most provinces listed by David, however, saw an increase in their positivity rates with the most notable being Tarlac, which jumped from 23.5 to 32.8 percent.
Davao del Sur also recorded an increase from 8.3 to 13.4 percent, Cavite from 20.5 to 24 percent, Pampanga from 14.8 to 19.5 percent, and Rizal from 25.6 to 26.1 percent.
Currently, only Cavite, Tarlac, and Rizal have positivity rates above 20 percent.

As of Oct. 8, the country currently has 27,065 active cases among the total caseload of 3,965,865, based on the Department of Health’s (DOH) COVID-19 tracker.
On the tracker, the DOH lists Metro Manila as the leading region with the highest number of COVID-19 cases in the past two weeks at 12,587, followed by Calabarzon at 5,331 and Central Luzon at 2,811.
In terms of individual areas, Quezon City leads with 3,106 cases, followed by Cavite with 1,804 and Laguna with 1,603.
