MANILA, Philippines — The trough of a low pressure area (LPA) within the Philippine area of responsibility (PAR) will trigger rain showers in the Visayas and parts of Mindanao on Sunday, while fairer weather is expected in Luzon, said the state weather bureau.

Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) weather specialist Benison Estareja said that the LPA was last spotted 1,315 kilometers east of Central Luzon, and is expected to move westward towards Luzon.

“Ang trough ng nasabing LPA ang siyang nagpapaulan sa malaking bahagi ng bansa (the trough of the said LPA is what will bring rain over a large part of the country,” he said.
