If all go as planned, Sherwin Salinas will soon say goodbye to his twice-a-week dialysis sessions for his kidney ailment.
The only child of Wilfredo and Haydelita Salinas, the 25-year-old said that should he and his parents be able to raise P600,000, half of which would go to the purchase of a kidney from a cadaver, he would soon undergo a kidney transplant at Philippine General Hospital.
“But if my father will pass the clinical test, he is willing to donate his kidney so we will only be needing P300,000,” Sherwin said.
He added that his doctors had informed him that the six-month period after the operation was critical for his survival and that he would need at least P50,000 a month for medication.
“I am appealing to your readers because my father gave up his work abroad when I got sick. The most that he can do now is look for guarantors who can help me. I am willing to work even as an encoder to become the breadwinner of my family,” Sherwin, an electrical technician graduate, said.
