QCPD’s top 7 priority drug suspect nabbed in Cubao

MANILA, Philippines — The top seven priority drug suspect of the Quezon City Police District (QCPD) has been arrested in a buy-bust operation in Barangay East Kamias, Cubao, local police said on Friday.

According to QCPD Director Brig. Gen. Nicolas Torre III, a certain Marco William Parisi, 28, from the said barangay, was the subject of a buy-bust operation on Thursday night.

QCPD said that around 5:20 p.m. on Thursday, a poseur buyer tried to purchase P9,000 worth of shabu from the suspect.  After the transaction, operatives from the District Drug Enforcement Unit conducted the arrest.

Police managed to seize around 15 grams of suspected shabu said to carry a street value of P102,000, along with a cellular phone, a digital weighing scale, and the marked money used to buy the illegal drugs.

According to QCPD, further investigation revealed that the same suspect was arrested in a separate anti-drug sting last January 24, in an operation conducted by the Station Drug Enforcement Unit of the Kamuning Police Station.

Parisi was freed after availing of a plea bargaining scheme on March 18.

The suspect and nine other arrested individuals in other buy-bust operations conducted by the QCPD would face charges for violating various sections of Republic Act No. 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.

Torres meanwhile assured Quezon City residents that they would continue the campaign against illegal drugs.

“Sa mga mamamayan ng lungsod Quezon, asahan po ninyo na mas paiigtingin at palalawakin ng Quezon City Police District ang ating kampanya kontra illegal na droga,” he said.

(For Quezon City residents, you can expect that we would intensify and broaden the scope of our campaign against illegal drugs.)

“Ito ay isang anay sa ating lipunan at patuloy na sumisira sa buhay ng karamihan, subalit kailangan namin ang inyong kooperasyon at suporta para makamit ang isang ‘Drug Free Community’,” he added.

(This is a problem of our society and it continues to destroy the lives of many, but we need the public’s cooperation and support for us to have a drug-free community.)
